Why eating from a bowl is not healthy!
Eating from a bowl harms dogs physically, emotionally, and mentally. In nature, food is not always available – wolves sometimes have to eat only once every four to five days. Anatomically, dogs are similar to wolves and require similar stimuli.
Wolves perform many actions that stimulate the brain: sniffing, tracking, ambushing, chasing, flanking, and exhausting the prey, until the meal is achieved. Professor Dave Mech, one of the world’s leading wolf researchers, documented wolves that covered over 60 km per day in search of food (Yellowstone Park, 1958).
In contrast, a domestic dog approaches the bowl and completes the meal quickly, without challenge or stimulation. The food stimulates only the sense of taste, and the body’s satiety mechanisms are not yet active, which creates inattentive eating. These deficiencies can cause behavioral problems such as house destruction, separation anxiety, and obesity.
